MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Overview:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing ongoing manufacturing and facility maintenance and completing repairs on equipment. Priorities include keeping the facility safe and operable by repairing any problems to minimize downtime.

This position is expected to work on both manufacturing equipment (70%) and office facilities and equipment (30%).

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs a wide range of repair tasks around the facility including, but not limited to, machinery, general building maintenance, plumbing and electrical problems.
• Performs PM’s and documents findings during the PM.
• Interacts between machine operators and management to diagnose equipment issues.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be able to troubleshoot using a logical process to get the machinery up and running as quickly as possible.
• Ensures that manufacturing machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime.
• Maintains building operations and ensures that the facilities are always safe and functional.
• Applies preventative measures to the operational equipment and building to reduce the risk of future problems.
• Addresses potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Performs emergency repairs to prevent and resolve unproductive downtime.
• Receives training to become knowledgeable and updated about specific equipment and processes.
• Documents all tasks performed using a Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMs).
• Must be able to interpret results, creating a TPM to plan for major machinery repair.
• Must be able to troubleshoot electrical components when machinery is down.
• Abide by 6S Work Standards.
• Projects a sense of urgency and an understanding of the importance of maintaining equipment functionality.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

• Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
• Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.
• Must be committed to safety and model the same for other employees.
• Ability to focus and work with a sense of urgency.
• Physical stamina to manage a full shift of being active and working in and around a manufacturing environment.
• Clear communication skills to interact with a wide variety of personnel.
• Collaborates with supervisory personnel to prioritize competing demands.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum two (2) years demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other systems
• Troubleshooting skills
• Experience with a variety of hand tools, electrical equipment, and materials
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Basic e-mail and computer skills; familiarity with MS Office prefer

Physical Requirements:

• Stand for extended periods of time.
• Excellent manual dexterity - uses hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
