Alternative Distribution – Associate Product Manager

Alternative Distribution is an emerging distribution channel within Nationwide focused on long-term profitable growth through partnerships with innovative agencies and next generation quoting platforms. We are looking for a proactive and organized leader with excellent communication skills that will take ownership of Product and Portfolio Management responsibilities for Alternative Distribution firms.

This role represents a great opportunity for candidates to get involved in many aspects of the agent experience while applying standard Product Management concepts and flexing their critical thinking skills. It also provides the opportunity to work with industry-leading partnerships and interact with senior leaders at Nationwide.

Location options include offices in Columbus, OH or Des Moines, IA, or a Work-From-Home/Remote capacity anywhere in the country.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing to clearly defined performance goals for Alternative Distribution firms
  • Collaborating with Relationship Management Team to implement action plans that foster profitable growth
  • Optimizing agency integration patterns and the presentation of Nationwide’s rate against other carriers
  • Engaging in portfolio analysis, agency reviews, dashboard analytics, and forecasting
  • Communicating our Alternative Distribution strategy to associates in other business units at Nationwide

Qualified candidates should have a sound understanding of Personal Lines Products and Independent Agency business practices. Prior experience in Product Management, Business Insights, Relationship Management, Carrier Relations, Independent agencies, or InsurTechs is preferred.

As an Associate Product Manager, you'll be responsible for positioning products for profitable growth within states that are generally smaller or less complex. You may have opportunities to work on a portion of a more sophisticated state in support of Product Manager. Work will include implementing processes related to financial planning, rate reviews, market development and communication. You'll support regional and corporate objectives through ongoing analysis and monitoring of results to ensure alignment to objectives.

  • Captures information from multiple internal and external sources according to company guidelines, including competitor filings to perform analysis. May require gathering verbal information from internal subject matter specialists or partners and data through reports or other external published or non-published electronic means.
