Project Engineer

The Product Engineer serves as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal teams, supporting projects from initial costing through engineering release and into production. This role requires strong expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to ensure product designs are optimized for efficient, high-quality production. Proficiency in CAD tools and experience with flexible electronics are essential for developing accurate product documentation, including bills of materials, routings, and test protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Design & Review – 30%
•    Collaborate with customers on product design and development from concept to realization 
•    Conduct design reviews with internal and external stakeholders

Creating Documentation – 25%
•    Create engineering drawings, circuit designs, and tooling documentation 
•    Develop bills of materials (BOMs), product routings, and production interface documents 
•    Prepare and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)

Cross-Functional Collaboration – 30%
•    Support Purchasing with tooling specs, material sourcing, and lead-time planning 
•    Assist with prototype builds and 1st Article Approval Cycles (IQ/OQ/PQ) 
•    Help optimize production processes post-release

Compliance & Quality – 10%
•    Report on regulatory compliance (RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, etc.) 
•    Support validation and quality assurance activities

Enhance Company Culture – 5%
•    Embody and promote East West’s core values, collaborative culture, and strategic vision.
•    Contribute to the continuous improvement of account management processes and best practices within East West.
 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and/or five to seven years of related experience 
• AutoCAD and/or Pro Engineer design proficiency
• Design for Manufacturing experience
• Printed Electronics, flexible or wearable electronics background
• Knowledge of Indented Bills of Materials and Product Routing documentation.
• Experienced with all Outlook, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

Travel Requirements: This position is in the office in North Andover, MA. Travel time is limited based on the business requirements.  Although rare, occasional travel to Juarez, Mexico, may be required to support new product realization, customer audits or problem-solving assistance to the team.
