Job Description

AA Degree Electronics, Computer Engineering. Certificate from vocational or trade school in computer technology or computer hardware maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

8+ years supporting and repairing related equipment.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned equipment. 
  • Consistently conduct highly complex troubleshooting and repair of down equipment to root cause of failure in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with departmental objectives. Provide guidance to others in the areas of complex troubleshooting and repair.
  • Notify manager and equipment engineers of parts requirements, repeated problems and equipment deficiencies. Provide solutions when repeated problems and equipment deficiencies occur and when potential problems may occur.
  • Perform complex preventive maintenance in accordance with PM specifications and applicable safety procedures.
  • Thoroughly and accurately, document the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Give accurate and detailed end of shift pass-downs of equipment problems found and repairs performed.
  • Work on assignments that may highly complex in nature where judgment and analysis are required in solving problems.
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities with equipment engineering, vendors and other cross functional groups in for productivity, cost savings and yield enhancement.
  • Provide input to facilitate improvements in equipment maintenance key processes, techniques, and procedures.
  • Continuously improve required skill sets through formal training or through resolving issues while on the job.
  • Train and mentor new Technicians.

Works independently. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Often provides guidance to other technicians or technical program coordinators and may be called upon to perform or cover leadership responsibilities.

- Follows established policies, processes, guidelines, methods to accomplish work.

- Consistently works on assignments requiring high degree of initiative to resolve

- Understands implication of work and decisions and makes recommendations for solutions.

- Collaborates with others within their own department and in other departments on solutions that may affect the business.

- May be seen as an informal leader and looked upon for solutions.

 

- Expert level knowledge of photolithography wafer fabrication practices, techniques and equipment. Good technical understanding of hard disk drives and their components.

- Read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics and related instructions. 

- Apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

- Adapt techniques and practices to situation appropriately.

- Understands implications of work.

- Makes recommendations for solutions.

- Use a wide variety of common bench electronic equipment and specialized equipment.

- Use standard electronic assembly tools and materials

- Use MS Excel, MS Word, calendar program, e-mail, etc.

- Use hardware and software applications associated with the wafer fabrication equipment and with the products
