Description
At the Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), the Division of Education plays a crucial role supporting the
department and the reentry of offenders back into the community. The mission of the Division of Education is
to prepare every offender through the advancement of academic achievement and work ready skills for successful
reentry.
As education corrections professionals, it is our job to assist in the rehabilitation and reentry of offenders by working within the department, with community partners, and state agencies to increase community safety and reduce recidivism rates. The Corrections Regional Education Administrator (CREA) will manage and supervise all personnel, educational programming, operations, curriculum planning, and plan, facilitate, and coordinate educational opportunities to offenders within the correctional environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Corrections Regional Education Administrator (CREA) will manage and supervise all personnel, educational programming, operations, curriculum planning, and plan, facilitate, and coordinate educational opportunities to offenders within the correctional environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensures efficient operation of the education center(s) and all course implementation.
- Oversees all educational programming is operated and staffed in accordance with DOC policies and procedures, American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, and Corrections Education Association (CEA) standards, as well as maintains appropriate documentation.
- Conducts site and staff evaluations and reviews ensuring best practices in teaching methods, strategies, and appropriate engaged classroom interactions.
- Verifies transcripts for inmate educational good time awards and submits to the education registrar for processing.
- Plans and develops new and existing programs, enrollments, and retention strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Recommends and coordinates professional development opportunities and conducts regular staff meetings.
- Participates in recruitment and selection of staff to support the education center.
- Prepares budget for review and approval, as needed, in conjunction with supervisor.
- Monitors budgetary allocations and expenditures as appropriate.
- Ensures supplies and resources are ordered and used appropriately.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education, counseling, or related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Five years of professional experience in academic or vocational education.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
