Position Description
MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for directing and supervising all operational activities of the pharmacy department as designated by the System Director of Pharmacy. This position oversees pharmacy operations at the designated campus, including outpatient infusion services, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key responsibilities include managing staff scheduling, operational workflows, policy review, day-to-day troubleshooting, and serving as a liaison between IT, revenue cycle, and external vendors. The Pharmacy Operations Manager also serves as the USP 97> Designated Person, responsible for all cleanroom operations, compliance, and staff education. As the Pharmacist-in-Charge, this individual fulfills all obligations and responsibilities defined by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
This role encompasses oversight of critical pharmacy functions such as controlled substance management, drug diversion monitoring, 12/24-hour medication cart fill, first-dose dispensing, emergency medication trays and kits, automated dispensing cabinets, sterile product compounding, and pharmacy supply chain and procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
• Graduate of a College or School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a minimum of a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD).
• Completion of an advanced degree or previous supervising experience preferred
• Minimum five years Hospital Pharmacy and Sterile Compounding experience.
• Knowledgeable and proficient with USP97> , 95> and 00>.
Certification/ Licensure:
• BCPC Certificate preferred.
• Pharmacist license in NJ required.

Position Responsibilities
Operational Oversight:
• Manage the daily operations of the pharmacy, including medication dispensing, inventory control, and workflow optimization.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
• Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of medications and supplies to ensure uninterrupted service.
Leadership and Team Management:
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other support staff.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels and develop staff schedules to maintain efficient operations.
