Responsibilities & Qualifications

The VP of Enterprise Data and Analytics COE reports to the CIO and is a vital member of the senior IT leadership team, acting as a leader with vision who balances strategy and execution while fostering collaboration with various management levels within and outside IT. This role is responsible for devising and implementing a comprehensive strategy for enterprise data and advanced analytics in line with the organization’s goals. The incumbent will lead, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled data scientists, engineers, and delivery managers, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation. Key responsibilities include providing technical guidance, recruiting top talent, and ensuring the team’s success through effective people management.

The role requires substantial manufacturing experience, particularly in process industries, and a consistent track record in applying data sciences in manufacturing, supply chain, finance, procurement, and R&D. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, data visualization, and familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms are crucial.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and Roadmap Development:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive advanced analytics strategy aligned with the company's goals.
  • Create a detailed roadmap for expanding existing and introducing new advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI, data, and analytics solutions in collaboration with IT leaders and partners.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and apply innovative technologies to enable evolving business models.
  • Management and Operations:
  • Develop, run, and govern the annual COE budget.
  • Lead the COE and improve the organization’s capacity to develop insights with advanced analytics.
  • Define responsibilities and recruit candidates for data and analytics leadership roles across the enterprise.
  • Act as a coach and mentor for direct reports and key staff, providing feedback and ensuring goal achievement.
  • Oversee the organization’s data and analytics architecture and platforms, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Introduce new technologies for competitive advantage while minimizing duplication.
  • Data and Analytics Technology Contribution to Process Excellence:
  • Contribute to business process re-engineering for digital transformation and operational efficiency.
  • Set standards for data sourcing and quality assurance.
  • Establish data governance and management decision-making authorities.
  • Implement data privacy policies and align with data protection regulations.
  • Innovation and Creativity:
  • Drive innovation in advanced analytics methodologies and technologies.
  • Encourage creative problem-solving and explore new analytical approaches.
  • Shape the company’s analytical strategies and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in data and analytics, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership with a track record of leading complex multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adhering to leadership practices and cultural beliefs to develop talent and drive diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent business and social skills for influencing senior-level change.
  • Effective communication and storytelling for conveying the D&A strategy.
  • Influencing and emotional intelligence to gain support and explain concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Facilitation skills for eliciting ideas and encouraging group participation.
  • Creative and critical thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Teamwork and collaboration with business and technical teams.
  • Relationship management for building trust with internal and external partners.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing data and analytics strategies.
