We are seeking an Associate General Counsel Energy. This position is based out of either our Oak Ridge, TN, or Lexington, KY office, and remote is an option for this position.

How will you contribute to the team?  

  • Atkins Nuclear Secured, LLC is seeking experienced legal counsel with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with experience in government contracting, litigation management, corporate governance and providing legal support to Federal Contractors performing services directly for the Federal Government. 

  • Managing all legal issues facing prime contractor for the Department of Energy.

  • Managing litigation and legal budget in accordance with a litigation management plan.

  • Pursuing claims and defending claims as they arise.

  • Supporting major contract changes, modifications, requests for equitable adjustment and disputes; supporting contracts and procurement group as needed.

  • Providing human resources and labor counsel (or managing outside counsel) on issues including benefits, discipline, collective bargaining units, ADA and Title VII compliance, and other miscellaneous HR elements.  

  • Serving as corporate secretary and supporting a Board of Directors and related committees.

  • Advising on corporate legal matters and intellectual property issues.

  • Advising on safeguards and security issues, along with export control issues.

  • Conducting training as needed for company compliance and best practices.

  • Advising on regulatory issues and potential process improvements.

  • Managing investigations related to violations of internal policies or other legal matters.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What will you contribute? 

  • Juris Doctorate required.  

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as an active attorney.

  • In-depth expertise in government contracts.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as in-house counsel.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with direct expertise in government contracts and human resources preferred.

  • Department of Energy experience preferred.

  • Prime contract experience preferred.

  • Export Controls experience preferred.

  • Experience managing outside counsel preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Advanced drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to interact well with all levels of management and throughout multiple business units.

  • Ability to interact with external client and build partnerships.

  • Ability to solve complex problems that could have impacts throughout the business.

  • Ability to independently manage all legal issues facing prime contractor.

  • Strong multitasking skills.

  • Strong investigative skills.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Active State Bar certification, in good standing.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
