Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Education Program Director at UL Research Institutes. This is a remote role.

The Director of Education Programs oversees the development of secondary and post-secondary curriculum for classrooms and communities to ensure quality education and to prepare students for their future endeavors for the Office of Research Education & Experiences (OREE). The Director of Education Programs will provide strong leadership, educational expertise, and a deep understanding of curriculum development, leading efforts that span across UL Research Institutes.

OREE:

The Office of Research Experiences and Education (OREE) cultivates the next generation of safety scientists through a mix of unique educational programs, academic partnerships, and research and standards development experiences.

We translate the findings of our research institutes into compelling educational materials, bringing to life scientific concepts using contemporary best education practices to create learning opportunities for a wide variety of secondary through postgraduate students. Our academic collaborations and support for the next generation of safety scientists likewise reach across the educational spectrum, including partnerships that reach out to students who are underrepresented in STEM fields.

Through all our programs, we aim to unlock the diverse perspectives that are essential for solving the world’s most pressing safety and sustainability issues.

What you’ll learn and achieve:

As the Education Program Director, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Lead the OREE teams and collaborate with program managers to deliver relevant, meaningful programming and resources from the safety science and standards work of ULRI and ULSE.

  • Guide and facilitate program development including setting 1–5-year goals, establishing priorities, and monitoring progress to improve implementation across the US.

  • Propose and present on behalf of OREE at regional, national and international conferences and events in collaboration with program managers.

  • Work with Senior Director to develop budgets, track budgets, and support programs with financial management.

  • Collaborate with program managers on team and individual goals setting, management, evaluations, reviews. Be decisive and supportive of team members.

  • In collaboration with the evaluation team and program managers, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the resources through metrics and data analysis. Translate evaluation into strategy and program design.

  • Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and higher education institutions to develop partnerships that enhance educational opportunities for students.

  • In collaboration with the research team and Senior Director, identify funding opportunities that are appropriate to capacity and programming capabilities, develop narratives for funding opportunities, and create budgets and budget justification in collaboration with the ULRI grants office.

  • Keep informed about educational policies and regulations at the local, state, and national levels. Provide input and expertise in policy development to ensure the resources meet the needs of diverse learners and complies with relevant regulations.

  • Stay updated on educational research and best practices to inform resource development. Explore innovative approaches, technologies, and pedagogical methods to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
