What you will do:

The Sr. Chemist must possess extensive industry expertise in coatings and/or caulk/mastic formulating and testing.  In addition, this role must be a knowledge expert in regard to all phases of laboratory work and communication of conclusions, as well as develop intimate business-relationships with customers and participates in a leading manner at industry organizations (seen as a consultant to the industry). Lastly, the Sr. Chemist will be recognized as a leading advisor within the laboratory and extended team.

 

  • Plans and performs appropriate laboratory testing for projects (PSI, AD, TS, plant support, etc.; 55%
  • Mentor other lab staff and teaches from experience; 15%.
  • Generates technical data and results and presents, both internally and externally; 25%
  • Ensures safety goals are met by self and others; 5%.

 

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field.; Master’s or PhD a plus.
  • 9-13+ years of relevant experience
  • Willing to travel an average of 25% for customer visits, trade shows, training, etc.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good time management and project management skills
  • Advanced level technical knowledge of formulating, test methods, industry standards, competitors, customers, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of emulsion polymerization
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to influence.
