Position Summary
Bastyr University, a private regionally accredited institution, is accepting applications for a core faculty position and chairperson of the Clinical Sciences Department at Bastyr University’s Kenmore campus. The chairperson of the Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for teaching, academic leadership, administrative duties, student support, and faculty support. This role involves developing and implementing academic curricula, managing departmental resources, and representing the department at various institutional and professional events.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Teaching: Teach courses within the Clinical Sciences Department, as scheduled.
a. Demonstrates flexible, current and innovative inclusive curriculum design, development and delivery. Establishes critical assessment of learning and teaching materials. Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
b. Clinic, teaching and additional service responsibilities may involve weekends and evenings.
2. Academic Leadership:
a. In partnership with the Dean, School of Naturopathic Medicine Program, Associate Deans, and other department chairs, assist in the development, delivery, and administration of the academic curriculum of the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program.
3. Administrative Duties:
a. Guides the development of the department.
b. Assists in the management of departmental budgets and resources.
c. Ensures compliance with university and departmental academic policies and procedures.
d. Assist in scheduling courses within the area of responsibility.
e. Represent the Clinical Sciences department at institutional meetings, student recruitment events, accrediting agencies, national and international professional organizations as assigned.
4. Student Support:
a. Address concerns and grievances for students in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Kenmore campus.
5. Faculty Support:
a. Recruit, hire, support and maintain highly qualified and trained faculty within the area of responsibility, providing guidance in the areas of learning objectives and review of syllabi quarterly, teaching skills, and curriculum development.
b. Participate in regular School of Naturopathic Medicine meetings.
Other Responsibilities
1. Serve on departmental and university committees and represent the department at meetings and events as requested by the Dean.
2. Assist in the hiring and training of department staff as needed.<
