Under the direction of the Branch Supervising Librarian, the Library Assistant II performs clerical and para-professional duties in the operation of a Branch Library. This position is part-time or substitute-based, supporting daily library functions and assisting patrons across all age groups.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Remain up to date on library policies and procedures, particularly those related to branch operations.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating programs for children, teens, and adults.
  • Provide courteous and helpful assistance to patrons seeking materials, information, or help with library technologies.
  • Support patrons with impairments by helping them locate accessible and appropriate resources.
  • Contact patrons regarding reserved, overdue, or damaged materials in a professional manner.
  • Record and maintain daily library usage statistics.
  • Charge and discharge library materials; reshelve items; issue library cards in accordance with eligibility guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment; ensure bookshelves, furniture, and displays are orderly and appealing.
  • Notify appropriate personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Assist with weeding outdated or worn materials from the collection under direction of the Branch Assistant.
