Position Overview

The Sr. Supply Chain Planner is responsible for leading complex demand, supply, inventory, and replenishment planning activities across assigned business areas. This role serves as a senior individual contributor within the planning function and is accountable for evaluating complex planning scenarios, developing recommendations, resolving escalated issues, and supporting improvements that strengthen service levels, inventory performance, and supply chain execution.

The Sr. Supply Chain Planner works closely with Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Transportation, Warehousing, Procurement, and third-party partners to align planning assumptions, evaluate business trade-offs, and support cross-functional decision-making. This role brings advanced planning expertise, business judgment, and analytical discipline to recurring planning processes, supply risk management, product transitions, and continuous improvement efforts.

This role is distinguished by its focus on complex planning leadership, advanced analysis, escalated issue resolution, business recommendations, and process improvement within assigned planning areas.

Key Responsibilities
Complex Demand, Supply, and Inventory Planning
• Lead demand, supply, inventory, and replenishment planning activities for complex product groups, customer channels, locations, or business segments.
• Evaluate demand patterns, forecast performance, sales trends, promotional activity, seasonality, supply constraints, inventory position, and customer requirements to inform planning decisions.
• Develop planning recommendations that balance customer service, inventory investment, production capacity, material availability, cost, risk, and business priorities.
• Evaluate production schedules, replenishment plans, receipts, transfers, material availability, and inventory exposure to identify risks, trade-offs, and required actions.
• Lead planning support for complex product transitions, new item launches, phase-ins, phase-outs, discontinuations, limited supply situations, or high-impact promotional activity.
• Recommend production, replenishment, allocation, inventory, expedite, or deferral actions based on data analysis, business impact, and cross-functional input.
• Support inventory optimization by evaluating safety stock strategy, cycle stock, service levels, inventory turns, aged inventory, excess and obsolete risk, and working capital impact.
Advanced Analysis, Risk Management, and Issue Resolution
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex forecast misses, demand shifts, supply disruptions, inventory imbalances, service gaps, and recurring planning issues.
• Resolve escalated demand, supply, inventory, replenishment, and planning system issues by evaluating data, business trade-offs, and stakeholder impacts.
• Develop scenario analyses, recommendations, and action plans to address supply constraints, inventory exposure, service risks, or demand changes.
• Identify and communicate risks related to material availability, capacity constraints, inventory health, forecast accuracy, service levels, and operational execution.
• Prepare clear analysis, options, risks, and recommendations for leadership review and cross-functional decision-making.
• Monitor and interpret planning KPIs, including forecast accuracy, fulfillment rate, service levels, inventory turnover, aged inventory, excess and obsolete inventory, and supply risk indicators.
• Identify recurring process, data, or planning gaps and recommend improvements to prevent future issues.
Cross-Functional Planning Leadership
• Lead complex planning discussions with cross-functional partners to resolve forecast, inventory, supply, replenishment, product transition, or service issues.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Transportation, Warehousing, Procurement, and Customer-facing teams to align planning assumptions and support timely decisions.
• Support Sales & Operations Planning processes by preparing analysis, validating inputs, identifying risks and trade-offs, and contributing recommendations.
