What we do:
The Principal Propulsion Technical Project Leader is responsible for all Propulsion and Dynamic Systems aspects within an assigned project to ensure progress and technical quality in support of the Head of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems and Chief Engineer. This role is responsible for selecting the appropriate system components from internally developed and externally provided solutions, weighing performance, technical maturity, risk, schedule and cost constraints. The project leader will develop, validate, and verify requirements with the overall aircraft objectives in mind and deliver and integrate the complete Propulsion & Dynamic System solution into the aircraft project. This position will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Distinguished Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, Engineering Heads, especially the Head of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems, as well as the Program Management Organization.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Responsible for leading the Propulsion & Dynamic Systems engineering development effort and leading the execution and implementation of the engineering process in concert with the Chief Engineer and Project Manager on a specific program
- Assumes Propulsion & Dynamic Systems engineering responsibility for assigned program
- Accountable for Propulsion & Dynamic Systems technical team, engineering plan and execution, and performance to plan of a project
- Ensures that program Propulsion & Dynamic Systems technical resource needs are defined and met by working with the Chief Engineer, Program Manager and Head of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems to identify and secure appropriate staffing
- Leads multi-disciplinary team that identifies and implements safe, certifiable EVTOL Propulsion & Dynamic Systems solutions that meet or exceed project demands
- Leads the engineering product development process through major program milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, FRR, etc.), in addition to helping establish the overall review plan.
- Leads development of requirements and supervises validation and verification
- Implements the proper use of engineering criteria and standards
- Maintains effective communication with Chief Engineer, Program Manager, Head of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems, suppliers, customers, internal departments, and Distinguished Engineers concerning technical issues affecting the program
- Leads development of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems interface control documents, software requirement specifications, performance specifications
- Leads the development and execution of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems test plans and guides the integration, verification, validation, and documentation of requirements through the system development cycle
- Solve complex technical challenges across engineering disciplines
- Collaborates across functions to ensure the project goals are met
- Provides technical leadership to a technical staff to ensure program success
- Prepares plans and assigns tasks and responsibilities

What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or applicable science degree (e.g. physics) required; Master’s or PhD degree preferred
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in battery electric or hybrid electric powertrain, high power & voltage applications, and/or aerospace applications such as fixed wing and helicopter aircraft (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience with power electronics, inverters, electric motors
- Experience with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C, DO-254A, and DO-160; and SAE ARP4761 and ARP4754
- Experience with team leadership/supervision
- Experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams of leaders to ensure the best quality decisions are made for the team as a whole
- Advanced knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA
