Position Summary:
The Administrative Services Assistant is responsible for a wide range of procurement, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and administrative services at a Community College.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Director or Associate Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Administrative Services Assistant is accountable for the effective performance in these essential functional areas:
- Procurement and accounts payable.
- Accounts Receivable and cashiering.
- Scheduling events and facilities.
- Inventory/asset management.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or in an appropriately related field with up to three (3) years of relevant experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
- Experience working in a cashiers, finance, financial aid, or other similar financial and/or business office.
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using financial database software to process financial transactions, e.g., Banner
- Three (3) or more years' experience in customer service, working with and serving the public.
- Experience working in a community college setting.
- CT State recognizes the imperative to effectively serve diverse students, faculty and staff. As such, the ability to communicate additional languages beyond English (e.g., ASL, Spanish, Arabic, etc.) is considered a preferred qualification for all student and community facing positions.
Starting Salary:
Minimum Salary range; $54,141-$57,765 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
