Description Overview

Manage team providing production engineering, continuous improvement and asset reliability engineering services to support the day-to-day operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging site. 

  • Production Engineers plan and implement process improvement initiatives, driving improvement of operational performance in safety, quality, delivery and cost in assigned area of responsibility, tracking progress with associated KPIs such as OEE and scrap rate.
  • Continuous Improvement Engineers respond to production quality deviations, performing investigations using various Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to identify root causes and develop and execute appropriate Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
  • Asset Reliability Coordinators plan and execute best practices in precision and predictive maintenance across the site, provide SME support for implementation of operator-driven reliability.

The Production engineering manager will instill a Process Excellence culture through involving and educating all levels and functions of employees in Lean Sigma principles, concepts, methodology, initiatives, and tools. This role will align with the site to provide oversight for key initiatives to improve efficiency, effectiveness and bottom-line performance of the site. This role will develop a team culture of continuous improvement through continuous coaching and mentoring of the site-based engineers.

Scope of the Role

  • Coordinate and manage Production Engineering team in executing projects aimed at operational performance improvement.
  • Monitor and ensure on time deviation report submission and effectiveness of CAPAs initiated from Continuous Improvement team.
  • Coordinate implementation of Asset Reliability program across Perrigo New York, according to Perrigo guidelines and project timelines.
  • Manage capacity of production engineering services to address site needs, assisting the team with effort estimation and work planning, ensuring team's accountability to their goals.
  • Monitor team's workload and progress towards project goals. Identify and assist with removing dependencies and impediments as needed.
  • Escalate risks to head of engineering as needed for assistance.
  • Facilitate conversations on how the team is trending against the overall roadmap, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor project execution, report results to site management.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or similar role.
  • Minimum 2 years of managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated coaching, mentoring skills, advocating and documenting best practices.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and previous exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound drawing conclusions skills, and demonstrated ability to supervise teams to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, organizational, relationship-building and documentation skills with strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Lean Sigma principles highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong listening skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written procedures and standards governing manufacturing processes.

 

Starting salary is $125,000 for this role.
