POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resource Generalist is a vital member of the HR team, and relied on for detail-oriented processes, interpersonal skill to help administer various HR initiatives for internal and external personnel. This role is responsible for completing a variety of task to support daily operations of the HR Department.
Supports the Director of Human Resources in the development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements.
The HR Generalist will have payroll, administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping to plan and administer important functions, such as staffing, training and development, employee onboarding, compensation, benefits, employee leave, credentialing of employees and compliance.
Suggest new policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES
Human Resources
- Oversee initial hiring process, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, and performing reference checks. This position facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Organize, schedule, and facilitate smooth new hire onboarding and new hire orientation to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of ACCESS policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing effective and dedicated HR support to employees in relation to compensation, benefits, leave, policy and procedure guidance, and all other employee-relations.
- Assist in the upkeep of employee handbook, policy and procedure manual, organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies.
- Maintain/update HR employee physical and electronic files, background checks and credentialing in accordance with compliance requirements.
- Communicate any failed background/driving records immediately to HR Director.
- Provide some employee basic technical support for company payroll and timekeeping system.
- Schedule employee meetings, including exit interviews with HR Director.
- Answer all incoming calls to the HR department. Assist with responding to employee inquiries through the human resources email account within 24 hours.
- Assist managers with quarterly and annual employee performance reviews.
Payroll and Benefits
- Responsible for the processing of payroll in a timely manner and including timely updates for new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, employee deductions, bonus/incentive pay, communicating exceptions, and benefit changes. Be the direct contact for supervisors to provide payroll changes that need to be added to payroll.
- Ensure all timesheets, time off requests, and timesheet change requests are approved for payroll (contact employees and/or supervisors to assist them with approvals and make sure the approvals are done each pay period.)
- Notify Exodus payroll processor that time is ready for processing.
- Assist employees with making changes to their personal information such as direct deposit changes, submitting new W4’s, address changes, etc.
- Maintain an awareness of current child support, bankruptcy orders, garnishments, and tax levies.
- Have knowledge of Access employee benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k, supplemental, life, disability.
- Ensure employees are enrolled in benefits within first 30 days of employment.
- Provide support for open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Assists with record keeping regarding FMLA leave and short-term disability.
- Assist with record keeping regarding Worker’s Compensation Claims.
