Who we are:

Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is the first and only statewide nonprofit organization that offers family peer support to people and families who have a loved one experiencing mental health, substance use, or problem gambling challenges.  Using their personal experience caring for their own loved one, our Family Peer Support Specialists offer emotional support, resource connection and systems navigation at no cost to those we help.  We also advocate to improve services and systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges because these issues are important to our families and loved ones too. 


Overview:

The Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) has a full-time (40 hour/week) employment opportunity for a Caregiver Advisor Program Administrator who will incorporating the experience and perspectives of caregivers in its efforts to improve Child Welfare Services. The Program Administrator will be responsible for recruiting, supervising and organizing a cohort of caregiver advisors who are or have been involved with Maryland's child welfare system.  The Program Administrator will support the caregiver advisors as they participate in a series of workgroups, committee meetings, document reviews and focus groups related to the work of the Social Services Administration (SSA).  The Program Administrator will also conduct training with the Department of Human Services on the best practices related to authentic family engagement. 


  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Recruits, onboards, trains and supervises caregiver advisor cohort.

· Assigns, coordinates and evaluates caregiver duties.

· Conducts regular team meetings with caregiver advisors to foster ongoing engagement.

· Provides the funder with caregiver advisors who possess the required skills and experience appropriate to the funder’s needs.

· Provides learning opportunities for child welfare leadership and statewide staff regarding authentic family engagement and teaming.

· Co-facilitates pre-service trainings for all new case managers at DHS.

· Plans and conducts required focus groups.

· Oversees payment of caregiver advisor cohort and members of the SYAB. 

· Participates in committees, workgroups and focus groups where needed and when appropriate.

· Supports funder reporting by compiling, analyzing and submitting accurate and timely program data.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Personal Lived Experience with the Child Welfare System.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a human services field, or minimum of five years of experience working with families caring for children with behavioral health challenges.
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • At least one year facilitating trainings
  • Strong problem-solving and administrative skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including record-keeping and time-management experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Technical expertise including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other technologies (database, online learning management system).
  • A high level of professionalism and passion for MCF’s mission.
  • Current Maryland driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a background check (required for all MCF employees).

Hours/Compensation:

· 40 hours/week

· Salary commensurate with experience
