The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

• Minimum Pay $37.13/hr.
• Gathers information from patient interviews and observation and documents appropriately. Performs accurate and appropriate audiological evaluations according to departmental policies and procedures and patient age.
• Instructs and counsels patient, family and/or caregivers regarding the results and recommendations of evaluations performed. Exercises discretion and independent judgement to develop individualized treatment plans for the patient who would benefit from aural rehabilitation as evidenced by patient records. Performs appropriate audiological evaluations outside of the department when the patient's medical condition necessitates as evidenced by patient records.
• Prepares and instructs patients and performs brainstem auditory evoked potentials for threshold assessment and site of lesion determination according to departmental policies and procedures as evidenced by recordings.
• Prepares and instructs patients and performs video electronystagmography according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Provides results of auditory and vestibular function testing and provides recommendations for follow-up and treatment.
• Evaluates and treats patients requiring aural rehabilitation. Recommends hearing aid solutions to meet the needs of the patient based on audiogram results. Dispenses appropriate devices to patients requiring aural rehabilitation.
• Counsels, instructs and educates patients in the use of hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Counsels, instructs and educates family and/or caregivers in the use of hearing aids and assistive listening devices as evidenced by patient satisfaction and director observations.
• Performs central auditory processing evaluations and provides results.
• Establishes and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives and safety regulations.
• Keeps accurate and up-to-date records for all patient evaluations, telephone contacts and correspondence and maintains progress notes.
• Assures equipment is calibrated yearly to ANSI standards, performs routine biological calibrations, and ensures timely electrical safety checks are performed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Master's degree. Doctorate preferred.
• Experience: One year as Audiologist or completion of clinical rotation.
• Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider,Audiologist - Licensed,Hearing Aid Dispensing License
• Knowledge and Skills: Standard audiological and vestibular function testing including central auditory processing evaluations, BAER and VNG. Ability to test young children including performance of appropriate infant hearing testing. Knowledge of digital hearing aid products and solutions, and fitting, dispensing and servicing.
• Special Training: ASHA Certified (CCC-A)or doctorate degree. Basic computer skills. Ability to use digital instrumentation. NJ Audiologist license, NJ Hearing Aid dispensing license. AHA BLS.
• Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and ability to respond quickly in a fast paced environment.
• Usual Work Day: 8 Hours
