The Position:
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as a Coordinator/Assistant Director of Interpreting Services. In this role, you will oversee the coordination and delivery of interpreting services to ensure effective communication between clients and participants. You will manage a team of interpreters, schedule assignments, and maintain quality standards to meet the diverse linguistic needs of our clientele. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in interpreting services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of interpreters, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate interpreting assignments based on client needs, interpreter qualifications, and language proficiency.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of interpreting services for various settings such as meetings, conferences, and appointments.
  • Maintain and update scheduling systems to track assignments, availability of interpreters, and client preferences.
  • Monitor interpreter performance and provide feedback to ensure quality and adherence to professional standards.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to interpreting services, including invoicing, budget management, and reporting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in interpreting services.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Education and Position Requirements:

  • ASL certification or pre-certified or ITP program graduate (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Proven experience in coordinating or managing interpreting services, preferably in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Certification or proficiency in multiple languages preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, interpreters, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Available to work nights and weeks, as needed.
  • Available to work at multiple locations, as needed.

Starting Salary Range: $44,000 - $55,000 (based on experience)

Classification:  E1-AD (exempt)
