About the role

Purpose of the Position:

The Research Associate II will assist and provide support with the design and development of optical experiments to help establish subsystems design and integration requirements and limitations.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist and provide support with the design and development of optical experiments to help establish subsystems design and integration requirements and limitations.
• Conduct and assist with comprehensive trade studies using modeling and simulation tools.
• Contribute to laboratory testing and validation of optical systems and development.
• Create detailed reports and presentations, supporting technical reviews, and diagnosing technical issues.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engr, Physics, EE or ME with 18 - 21 months (1.5 - 1.75 years) of full-time work experience.
• Hands-on experience with optical systems integration, assembly, setup, calibration, and operation.
• Experience working with optical systems and opto-electrical subcomponent integration in a laboratory environment (e.g., lasers, lenses, mirrors, fiber optics, spatial light modulators, cameras).
• Must be a US Citizen

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engr, Physics, EE or ME with 24+ months of full-time work experience.
• Ability to independently perform system alignment, calibration, and test procedures in a laboratory environment.
• Experience with programming and data analyses using Python and/or MATLAB.

Published Salary (if available):

$52,500 - $56,000
