About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

Our empowered teams follow an Agile approach, apply Design Thinking principles, and deploy the latest cloud architectures. Our projects streamline FirstEnergy business processes, drive innovation and continuous improvement, and benefit our community by aiding in providing safe, reliable electricity to everyone. Some of our initiatives include:
- Customer: improve customer satisfaction along the customer journey for a lifetime as they move-in to a residence, pay their bill and track outage repairs.
- Transmission & Distribution: develop advanced analytics models to detect asset failures, reduce outages and provide reliable electricity to customers.
- Corporate: automate business processes to enable employees to complete higher-value and more rewarding work.
Cloud Engineer
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain cloud architecture and pipelines that adhere to cloud engineering best practices and FirstEnergy’s business goals.
- Help to implement a strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure.
- Support cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud deployment activities – e.g. CI/CD, provisioning, and deployment.
- Develop Terraform modules & pipelines to automate the deployment of resources and associated configurations.
- Utilize native Azure services to meet the firm’s technology and resiliency requirements.
- Work as part of a highly collaborative agile team.
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain cloud architecture and pipelines that adhere to cloud engineering best practices and FirstEnergy’s business goals.
- Create/support strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure
- Support cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud deployment activities – e.g. CI/CD, provisioning, and deployment.
- Lead design process for network connectivity to Azure
- Design Develop Terraform modules & pipelines to automate the deployment of resources and associated configurations.
- Work as part of a highly collaborative agile team.
- Design and implement data protection options, including HA and BCP protection in Azure.
- You will experiment with and learn new technologies, staying ahead of tech trends.
- Engage in close collaboration with leadership, product, and design to ensure a cohesive end-to-end architecture and seamless delivery of functionalities.
- You will Handle large volume of complex technical details, workstreams, and interdependencies.
- Participate in requirements reviews, and other technical discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, MIS or another related field.
- I years with degree, 2 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
- 2 years with degree, 4 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
- Experience with configuring, deploying, and automating Azure cloud environments (AWS and GCP experience are a nice to have)
- Experience with Terraform, YAML, & Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Experience in the Agile/Scrum methodology
- Experience working in an environment with rapid prototyping and piloting of cloud solutions.
- DevOps automation experience including setup and configuration of CI/CD processes
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Chocolatey)
- Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP and load balancing
- Willingness to travel throughout organization and service territory and work extended hours, as required
