Job Description

Senior Electrical Project Manager - Regional Marine Terminal Power Lead


AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Manager for various landside and waterside marine terminal power projects. With an emphasis on medium and low voltage, as Regional Marine Terminal Power Lead, you will conduct investigations, planning, analysis, design, technical production, specification, vendor coordination, and field inspections. The AECOM Ports + Marine group undertakes a wide range of electrical projects including vessel shore power, alternative marine power, mobile crane electrical supply, communication systems, terminal-wide power systems, gate systems, container yards, rail yards, intermodal rail, offshore support facilities, and other terminal infrastructure projects.

 

The successful candidate will have proven design experience in delivering projects to the client’s satisfaction at the appropriate quality standard, ensuring the accuracy of drawings and calculations, guaranteeing cost-efficient and appropriate designs, and completing of all relevant codes and standards. This person will be the engineer of record, taking responsibility for work packages and working groups. Strong communication skills are vital for collaborating with clients, and power companies, and growing positive partnerships with consulting partner firms.

 

This role will support AECOM’s marine terminal power projects and pursuits throughout the US Gulf Coast, the Atlantic, and the Caribbean. The position will reside in AECOM’s Savannah office which supports Georgia Port Authority, one of the largest fastest growing ports in the US. 

 

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lead electrical engineer on mid-to large-size marine terminal projects.
  • Develops procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work.
  • Performs power system studies and analysis such as load flow, short circuit, breaker and relay coordination and arc flash and produces associated written reports utilizing the ETAP software.
  • Designs and specifies components for communication systems, control systems, electrical distribution and utilization systems.
  • Prepares electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, grounding and lighting plans, grounding and lighting details, electrical installation details, schematics, and wiring diagrams as well as electrical lists such as equipment lists, load lists and cable schedules.
  • Responsible for engineering and design activities including working directly with other engineers and design drafters to produce engineering documents and designs.
  • Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks and of work developed by others.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical disciplines

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BS Electrical Engineering or related field + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • P.E. License
  • Experience in the design of medium voltage distribution systems
  • A valid driver’s license is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.  

Preferred:

  • 6 years of electrical and communication systems experience in industrial settings
  • Experience and knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, PIP, and other applicable industry standards                               
  • Experience and knowledge with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and ETAP modeling software
  • Experience working with large regional power companies
