Position Summary

Maintain physical and virtualized server environment, VDI, SCCM/ Intune, security, patching, MS 365 environment, Active Directory, and cloud services for Santa Fe Community College. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • This is a fixed term position and the term will end upon completion of the Workday SIS Implementation project. The expected completion date will be approximately December of 2027.
  • Manages and supports on prem Microsoft Exchange and Exchange365
  • Deploys and configures virtual and physical servers
  • Maintains system and network documentation
  • Approves patches for installation on servers and applications
  • Backs up and restores systems/ accounts
  • Maintains the disaster recovery environment and systems.
  • Installs, configures and maintains Windows, Linux, and Hypervisor servers
  • Maintains system and network security
  • Deploys and implements new software
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • • Knowledge of system backup and recovery principles.
  • • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.
  • • Knowledge of server hardware and software support principles.
  • • Knowledge of wireless networking principles.

  • • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

  • • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnoses, and correct systems issues.
  • • Ability to install, maintain and repair and variety of computer hardware and software systems.

Work Hours

  • 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.

Physical Demands

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and utilizes the sense of smell.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.

Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree  in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
    • Four years experience directly related to the duties using Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Active Directory, and MS365
    • Two years experience in Linux within the four years experience above
    • Two years experience in supervising direct reports
    • Equivalent experience may substituted for education on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    •  Experience with SAN environments, virtual servers, server monitoring applications, backup and restore processes, disaster recovery planning and implementation
    • Experience with security best practices, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, MDR
    • Experience with managing Virtualized environments (VMWare)
    • Experience with Group Policy, SCCM/ Intune
    • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments
    • Ability to install, maintain and repair and variety of computer hardware and software systems
    • Microsoft Certifications
    • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
    • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct systems issues.
