Job Description Summary:
* Jewish HospitalLocated in the “heart” of downtown Louisville, Jewish Hospital is staffed 24/7 with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nationally certified emergency nurses, with direct access to specialists and resources to care for the sickest patients in Louisville. In addition to the provider of choice for emergency hand care, we are a nationally accredited chest pain center, STEMI (heart attack) receiving center, Primary stroke center, Louisville’s only Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) center and Louisville’s only center for all solid organ transplants (Heart, Lung, Liver, Kidney and Pancreas).
* Mary and Elizabeth Hospital
UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital’s Emergency Department is a full-service emergency department consisting of a rapid assessment treatment area with 39 beds along with multiple critical care rooms. We are staffed and equipped to care for all emergency illnesses and injuries including strokes and heart attacks. Our Primary Stroke center has earned the Gold Plus award from the American Heart Association. As one of the highest volume emergency departments in the region, our door-to-provider time is less than 30 minutes.

UofL Health – Medical Center East’s Emergency Department is a full-service emergency department with a convenient, central Jefferson County location in St. Matthews, immediately adjacent to the Watterson Expressway/I-264. Medical Center East is the first freestanding 24/7 ER in Kentucky with 20 private patient treatment rooms.

UofL Health – Medical Center Southwest’s Emergency Department is a full-service emergency department with a convenient Southwest Jefferson County location off Stonestreet Road, near both Dixie Highway and East Pages Lane, and easily accessible for patients in the Pleasure Ridge Park, Prairie Village and Valley Station areas of Louisville. Our emergency department features 19 private patient rooms.

UofL Health – South Hospital – Emergency Department (ED) is a full-service, 24/7, emergency department that has been expanded and renovated to feature modern care rooms with care provided by board-certified/board-eligible emergency medicine physicians who are supported by highly-skilled emergency medicine-trained physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and ED technicians. Combined with fast access to sophisticated technology and innovative treatments, at South Hospital, we can save lives when minutes matter most. Our Emergency Department has a convenient, Bullitt County location near the Jefferson/Bullitt County line at the Brooks exit off I-65.

The Emergency Department within UofL Health – UofL Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, is located in the heart of the Louisville Metro area. This trauma center has the distinction of being the first trauma center in the nation and the only Level I Trauma Center in the region. The UofL Hospital Emergency Department (ED) sees more than 60,000 patients per year. The ED is comprised of 42 treatment rooms, four trauma bays and a rapid assessment triage area for Emergency Medical Services. We offer many levels of care for our community which include, but are not limited to, Stroke, Trauma, Burn, High-Risk Obstetrics and Emergency Psychiatric Services. We also are the only facility in the city that houses a decontamination area for chemical and biological decontamination.
Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) is a competent registered nurse that will deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards. The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) uses:
- Nursing Practice Competencies to intervene to achieve safe, optimal patient and family centered care health outcomes;
- Leadership Competencies to coordinate patient care and communicate with the care team;
- Professional Profile Competencies to develop professionally as a life-long learner, and
- Practice Outcomes Competencies to evaluate care based on evidence, the UofL Health quality model, and patient safety goals.
The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) demonstrates competency caring for complex patients and participates on the care team to improve the quality of care in the clinical area.
