About the role

The role of Senior Buyer is responsible for developing and setting the strategic vision for their category in order to serve company goals, succeed at meeting financial targets, and improve customer satisfaction. They are responsible for fostering an agile, balanced, strategic, and data driven learning environment for their team, allowing for constant improvement and growth. The senior buyer owns and oversees a subset of the buying portfolio and works closely with our top vendors. They are expected to work closely with cross-functional partners (Planning, Product, Creative, Marketing, Operations, Site Merchandising…) to lead strategy execution. They will identify near and long term opportunities and risks and work with the team to develop and implement replacement and growth strategies. Develop seasonal strategies and work with vendor partners, Licensing, and Marketing to implement in season product assortments.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience
  • 8+ years of buying experience in an eCommerce or retail business
  • A confident leader with a proven track record of leading dedicated teams with a foundation of trust
  • You are highly influential and are skilled at storytelling, collaboration, advocating for your team
  • Your past experience has fostered strong written, oral communication and negotiation skills which serve you in developing and communicating strategies and ideas
  • Proficient MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • You prioritize deciphering business outcomes and apply data to develop and implement strategic business shifts
  • You’re innately curious and have a business owner mentality, looking wholistically at owned categories & the impact that decisions have on larger ecommerce business
  • You flourish in a fast-paced, high growth, and entrepreneurial environment. You’re a self-starter who takes ownership and initiative
  • You have a proactive and solution oriented approach to responsibilities & are skilled in key insights and priorities
  • Balance urgent and effective action, commitment to excellence, and take initiative to resolve problems and work quality
  • Ability to collaboratively work cross functionally and an eagerness to be involved in many aspects of a growing company
  • Genuine interest/passion for anime and pop culture!
  • You are able to travel 25% of the time for team, market, & vendor meetings

A day in the life of our Senior Buyer, Soft Goods

  • Drive high level strategic vision for their business through market analysis, identifying customer and financial opportunities, and navigation of organizational roadblocks
  • Anticipate the challenge of managing a multi-category high growth business, each with different objectives, success metrics and expected key deliverables
  • Cultivate successful collaboration with internal and external partners that support near and long term goals
  • Identify and lead onboarding of new strategic partners/brands and exit vendors who are no longer aligned with departmental strategies
  • Routinely analyze business performance and present strategic next steps to the leadership team
  • Lead a direct team and provide mentorship to team members, prioritizing development, coaching, and clear/actionable feedback
  • Hold team accountable to delivering product excellence, with a clear and consistent price/value relationship and customer first mindset
  • Participate in cross-functional task forces in support of key strategic prior
