SentryWorld is currently looking for a motivated, friendly individual to join the banquets and events team as an Event & Meeting Manager.
What You’ll Do
As an Event & Meeting Manager, you will:
- Responsible for preparing event documentation including contracts, banquet event orders (BEO), group arrival resumes, and post-event notes for Sentry Insurance booked events as well as other assigned businesses. Coordinates with sales/events, property departments, and clients to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout all phases of the group’s agreement with SentryWorld.
- Conduct tours/site visits of the hotel and banquet facilities for qualified potential clients in accordance with the company/property policies and procedures. Listens and engages with client to identify needs and responds accordingly.
- Develop relationships with current and former clients to understand their specific needs and objectives both short and long term.
- Identify opportunities to upsell additional services to current clients to enhance the overall event experience. Proactively solicits previous clients and cold calling new for future events to drive departmental revenue.
- Assist in the forecasting process of client’s spend including rooms, food, beverage, rentals, audio/visual, and misc. requests.
- Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling products/services and offering enhancements throughout the event process.
- Manage group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized assigned groups. Identifies operational challenges associated with groups and determines how to best work with property staff and client to solve presented challenges and/or develops alternative solutions.
- Act as the liaison between the sales/event team and the client throughout all phases the event process to ensures quality of service set by the SentryWorld brand. Confirms all dept heads are notified in advance of a scheduled site inspection or VIP arrival.
- Solicit feedback from other departments to identify areas for improvement and to enhance the client’s experience. Develops an action plan to incorporate feedback as well as current trends in event management/design for the sales and events departments.
- Follow up with the client's post-event for feedback and solicitation to book next event.
Additionally, you will:
- Assist in the supervision and training of Conference Services Managers, on-going mentoring, review of processes, and opportunities for efficiencies.
- Close out group files upon departure, including any outstanding balance or commissions due in review with the Billing Specialist.
- Attend internal and external client networking events to foster existing and develop new relationships to drive top line and incremental revenue to SentryWorld.
- Perform regular maintenance review of all function spaces by performing walkthroughs, entering maintenance requests, and ensuring all maintenance requests are completed as ordered.
- Regularly inspects all front and back of the house service areas and equipment to assure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventative maintenance, and other standards are met.
- Maintain knowledge of property features/amenities and those of competing properties within the market.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience in sales and/or event coordination preferred
- Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
- Work extended/non-standard hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products
- Able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrates flexibility and is strategically proactive.
- Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and group situations to customers/clients and other associates of the organization
