Job Description
Role overview | Context
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and high-performing Director, Tax Operations to join our team. Reporting into our VP Tax, Dr. Larry Skor, this hire will be a key component of our Tax leadership team.
You will be joining a quickly scaling Tax organization, with global reach from day one, and will carry responsibility for leading the continued evolution of the Tax Operations function; supporting the success of the business in controllership, compliance, and process automation amongst other areas.
Role overview | Remit and Responsibilities
As the new Director, Tax Operations, this person will be responsible for:
Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Checkout’s global tax provision
Timely and accurate filing of Checkout’s tax compliance obligations worldwide
Building and leading a diverse, world-class Tax Operations team
Building proper automation tools where possible
Partnering with the Tax team, and other senior Finance and business leaders to ensure proper tax operations support for all of Checkout.com’s operations; for now and for the future
Leading the tax accounting policy function by acting as a “go-to” resource for the business by providing timely and accurate advice and establishing internal tax accounting policies
Playing a key role in our global financial audit relationship for tax, and with taxing jurisdictions worldwide
Building and maintaining world class tax accounting controls
Qualifications
Role overview | Desired Background, Core Competencies
The ideal candidate for the role will bring:
15+ years of relevant experience
CPA/Chartered Accountant or similar designation
Expert technical tax skills, preferably from financial services/payments sectors
Significant experience in high-performing, multinational organizations
Deep domain knowledge on IFRS/US GAAP related to income tax accounting, including IAS12/ASC 740
Significant prior tax operations ownership experience, including tax compliance and controllership
Strong communication skills
Experience working with, and rolling out, leading tax compliance and provision automation tools
Big 4 experience is preferable

Salary Range (New York, US)
$200,000 USD - $240,000 USD
