The Vice President for Marketing and Communications (VPMC) will serve as a key advisor, strategist, and leader in strengthening Mount Holyoke College’s reputation, visibility, and overall impact. Reporting directly to the President, the VPMC will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the College’s strategic plan, MHC Forward. This individual will play a pivotal role in articulating and amplifying Mount Holyoke’s mission, values, and academic excellence to diverse audiences, including prospective students and families, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and the broader public.
Through strategic leadership, creative storytelling, and data-driven marketing initiatives, the VPMC will enhance brand awareness, drive student recruitment, support institutional fundraising efforts, and foster strong community engagement. The VPMC will lead a talented team of professionals, championing a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusion across all marketing and communications efforts.
The Vice President for Marketing and Communications will play a transformative role in shaping the College’s future by enhancing its visibility, strengthening engagement with key audiences, and ensuring that Mount Holyoke College remains a leader in liberal arts education.
Principle Responsibilities:
Serve as a key advisor, strategist, and leader in shaping and advancing Mount Holyoke College’s future, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan, MHC Forward.
Partner with key institutional stakeholders, including the President’s Office, Admission, and College Relations, to deploy marketing and communications strategies that support academic excellence, student experience, and institutional growth.
Build trust and strong relationships with leadership, faculty, staff, and students to deeply understand Mount Holyoke’s history, culture, and aspirations, using these insights to inform strategic marketing initiatives.
Evaluate and evolve the College’s brand identity, refining messaging and brand framework to enhance Mount Holyoke’s reputation and visibility at national and global levels.
Partner with the Office of Admission to develop targeted marketing initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights and multi-channel campaigns to drive student engagement and enrollment growth.
Oversee the development and execution of integrated communications strategies to support philanthropic efforts, including a comprehensive capital campaign and alum relations.
Lead efforts in digital engagement, media relations, crisis communications, executive thought leadership, and internal communications, ensuring a cohesive institutional voice across all platforms.
Manage, mentor, and develop the marketing and communications team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture while ensuring efficiency, accountability, and alignment with institutional goals.
