Staff/Senior Staff Engineer (Backend)

Smartrr is the leading next-generation subscription app that maximizes LTV for Shopify brands. We're looking for a motivated and passionate Staff or Senior Staff Engineer with backend experience to join our Engineering team. You will play a critical role in building and scaling the backend systems that our customers use. We're looking for someone to help us grow our platform, make the right technology and architecture choices, and mentor and grow their teammates. You want to tackle hard product and engineering challenges while working with smart people. You want to improve engineering practices and processes and help create a healthy and resilient engineering culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build, optimize, and maintain Smartrr's back-end platforms.
• Communicate persuasively to drive cooperation and collaboration.
• Mentor and pair to encourage the growth of others.
• Provide technical leadership and problem-solving so that others can contribute confidently.
• Build culture, processes, and tools to improve the developer experience at Smartrr.
• Help recruit, interview, and make Smartrr a great home for developers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in engineering; building backends, APIs, services, and platforms.
• Experience with one or more programming languages including but not limited to: Node.js, Go, Typescript/Javascript, Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with Cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Experience with relational database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Distributed Services, and Observability.
• Exposure to event streaming and data engineering is a bonus.
