Staff Systems Engineer – Embedded Platform
Lucid MotorsAbout the role
At Lucid, Platform Systems Engineering is foundational to enabling robust and scalable application software development for ECU-based vehicle functionalities. It establishes the standardized hardware abstraction layers, communication frameworks, timing constraints, and safety mechanisms that application software depends on to reliably implement feature behavior.
We are currently seeking Staff Systems Engineer – Embedded Platform, to be part of a passionate, highly driven multi-disciplinary systems engineering team enabling the development of complex system of systems. The successful candidate will exhibit a clear understanding of low-level microcontroller operations, electronics, and basic software including operating system, device drivers, and service layers. The candidate shall clearly and unambiguously capture architectural, behavioral, and parametric requirements that define the subsystem and cascade to component level software engineering for implementation. The role will require cross-functional engagement with product management, vehicle level system engineering, platform and control software engineers, hardware engineers and verification and validation teams. A thorough understanding of system development lifecycle(s) is required to be successful in this role, gained through prior OEM or Tier 1 industry experience.
Our ideal candidate exhibits a proactive, can-do attitude and approaches their work systematically with vigor, determination and accuracy. What You Will Do:
- Lead the end-to-end elicitation, analysis, and management of stakeholder requirements for platform software across all in-house ECUs.
- Own and deliver systems engineering artifacts for AUTOSAR Basic Software (BSW) and MCAL, ensuring architectural integrity, traceability, and alignment with platform strategy.
- Partner with Functional Safety Engineering to drive the development of functional safety concepts, taking ownership of Technical Safety Concepts (TSCs) and ensuring compliance with ISO 26262.
- Define and oversee verification and validation strategies for platform subsystems, collaborating closely with V&V teams to ensure comprehensive coverage and successful execution.
- Collaborate with Controls Application and Platform Software teams to refine software requirements, drive integration readiness, and ensure robust verification of software releases.
- Engage with suppliers, where applicable, to validate component performance, ensure requirements compliance, and resolve integration issues.
- Work closely with hardware engineering teams to support ECU and subsystem design, bring-up, validation, and root cause analysis.
- Drive cross-functional coordination with program management to plan and execute systems engineering lifecycle activities aligned with program milestones and release targets.
- Champion continuous improvement of systems engineering practices, tools, and methodologies across the organization, contributing to scalable and high-quality platform development.
What you bring:
