About the team

The Zillow Group People Analytics team is a skilled group of data professionals collaborating across the People Org (including HRBPs, HR Operations & Rewards, Learning & Development, Engagement & Belonging, and Recruiting) and related partners (e.g., Analytics, Finance). We provide actionable people insights that guide evidence-based decisions for Zillow Group. Our work supports a broad range of areas enabling deeper analysis, identifying patterns, and setting up our data environment for continued success.

About the role

As a People Analytics Data Scientist, you will report to the People Analytics Manager and play a meaningful role in maturing the People Analytics function. You will act as a hands-on contributor and trusted partner to HR and business leaders, helping them make informed decisions through data-driven insights. You will receive general mentorship on new assignments and can run day-to-day work with minimal oversight.

In this role you will: 

Deliver Data Insights and Visualization

  • Collaborate with data engineers to refine and enhance visualization tools (e.g., dashboards, reports) to tell compelling stories about workforce trends, particularly in areas like Recruiting and Engagement & Belonging (E&B).

  • Create and maintain data products that inform monthly and quarterly business reviews, ensuring leaders have clear, actionable insights.

Conduct Deeper Analysis & Identify Patterns

  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to uncover workforce and organizational trends.

  • Apply intermediate-to-advanced statistical techniques (e.g., basic inferential statistics, multivariate analysis) to guide and support decisions around recruiting pipelines, engagement, retention, and belonging.

  • Design and refine metrics that measure the impact and efficiency of HR initiatives, including hiring and E&B programs.

Assist In Setting Up A Sustainable Data Environment

  • Contribute to the development of scalable data pipelines and architecture, ensuring discoverability, reliability, and consistency of HR data.

  • Write efficient, well-documented code in SQL, Python, or R that improves analytics processes and supports future self-service capabilities.

  • Partner with Stakeholders and Collaborate

  • Form relationships with HRBPs, Recruiting, Engagement & Belonging, and other cross-functional teams to understand their challenges and data needs.

  • Clarify ambiguous requests, scope realistic projects, and proactively communicate progress, results, and roadblocks.

  • Translate findings into concise recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Manage Projects And Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or support smaller-scale analytics projects through planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, processes, and frameworks that enable efficient project execution and knowledge sharing.

  • Gather feedback from customers to refine analytics outputs and find opportunities for enhanced workflows.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $123,200.00 - $196,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

Experience:

  • 3+ years in workforce analytics, business analytics, data science, or related roles, demonstrating an ability to perform deeper analysis and identify workforce patterns.

  • Experience working with Recruiting data or other related People data is a plus<
