A Day in the Life

In this position, you will support manufacturing operations by developing, sustaining, and improving injection molding processes used in the production of medical devices. 

 

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Provide technical and sustaining engineering support for injection molding manufacturing processes 

  • Support Senior and Principal Molding Engineers in: process development and optimization, mold flow analysis, mold design reviews, molding process troubleshooting, equipment qualification and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) 

  • Apply basic knowledge of scientific molding principles to support stable, capable, and compliant processes 

  • Recommend and implement process and equipment improvements to meet quality standards and improve manufacturing efficiency, yields, and robustness 

  • Integrate equipment, tooling, and material capabilities to meet process module and technology target specifications 

  • Review product development requirements to assess manufacturing feasibility, cost, and schedule impacts 

  • Partner with Product Development, Quality, Operations, and Supplier teams to ensure manufacturing processes are compatible with product design requirements 

  • Support data collection, documentation, and statistical analysis to evaluate process performance and capability 

  • Contribute to the development, innovation, and optimization of new manufacturing processes for transfer to manufacturing 

  • Includes feasibility studies, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling and fixture support, and equipment installation 

  • Support the development and application of statistical process control (SPC) methodologies and measurement systems 

  • Ensure processes and procedures comply with Medtronic Quality System requirements and applicable regulatory standards 

 

Must Have: Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 2 years related experience OR 

  • Advanced Degree with 0 years of related work experience  

 
Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with injection molding processes and manufacturing equipment 

  • Exposure to scientific molding, moldflow analysis, or mold design review activities 

  • Experience supporting process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) in a regulated environment
