Job Types: Full-time, On-Site

** This position will be staffed for a period of 12 weeks**

Salary: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Caladwich Consulting LLC is currently seeking a Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to Complete the comprehensive equipment survey and identify all machinery requiring unique Locked Out & Tagged Out (LOTO) procedure(s) and all equipment sharing standard procedures. Develop all written LOTO procedures within the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. 

Qualified candidates will perform a variety of duties to Assess, identify, and document as necessary the controls, lockout or tag out points, power sources, valves, magnitude of energy, and other elements of each piece of equipment on the inventory to write a full LOTO procedure in the approved format.

This requires visiting plants and facilities to identify all energy sources for machines and equipment in order to develop step-by-step procedures for safe shut-down of equipment. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Identify all pieces of equipment which are required to be deenergized and locked-out or tagged-out in accordance with the references.

· Ensure all LOTO procedures will comply with OSHA 29CFR 1910.147 and based on ANSI/ASSE 244.1 guidance as well as the Veterans Affairs (VA) written compliance program. 

· Link each piece of equipment on the LOTO inventory with the associated LOTO procedure.

· Ensure the appropriate collection of data needed to create equipment specific LOTO SOPs using customized LOTO software.

· Interfaces with other departments, vendors, subcontractors, and Owner's operators to support proper isolation and removal of energy potential before work is allowed to begin on or in those electrical or piping circuits.

· Prepares and maintains Lockout/Tagout documentation.

· Performs system walk downs and maintains Locks, Tags and other isolation devices.

· Identifies/observes safe boundaries where work is to be conducted.

· Maintains LOTO Log, Authorized Employees Log.

· Supports the LOTO Requests within one shift to support the planned work.

Requirements

Qualifications / Required Experience:

· Experience with/supporting Federal Government preferred

· Ability to maintain consistent performance in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

· Quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills

· Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence

· Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good working relations with diverse groups.

· Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Microsoft Excel and MS Teams, alongside proficiency in various MS Office applications including Excel.

Other Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, biological science, environmental science/engineering, occupational safety, industrial technology or related discipline.

· Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and application of confined space, lockout tagout, and electrical safety.

· Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in higher education, health care, or the public sector.

· Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in applying and interpreting safety compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

· Demonstrated experience with calibrating industrial hygiene equipment and new technology systems.

· Documented experience, training, or certifications which demonstrate equivalent levels of knowledge, professionalism and aptitude.
