The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is located in the Wilshire Grand building, standing 73 stories tall in the core of Downtown’s historic, entertainment, financial, arts, and sports districts. Ideally placed at the heart of the revitalized, energy-charged urban center of the United States’ second-largest city, the hotel provides first-class hospitality that seamlessly intertwines with the fabric of the burgeoning Downtown area.
Your Day to Day
Are you an experienced sales professional ready to take on a dynamic role in the hospitality industry? The Senior Group Sales Manager role will oversee and implement all sales activities within a specific market segment. This role involves developing new accounts, maintaining existing ones, and executing strategic sales initiatives to drive revenue growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sell hotel room nights by engaging in direct client contact, maintaining a strong presence in major market areas through various channels such as sales solicitation, telephone outreach, and written communication.
- Meet personal and team sales goals as assigned, demonstrating a commitment to achieving excellence.
- Execute hotel-level tactical sales plans to enhance profitability, including strategies to increase average rates, boost occupancy, and attract business during off-peak periods.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with local community groups, companies, and officials, actively participating in out-of-town conventions and trade shows to foster new business opportunities.
- Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts, actively participating in forecasting, goal setting, and the annual budget process.
- Foster teamwork and quality service through effective communication and coordination with other departments, anticipating and resolving critical situations as they arise.
- Engage with various external contacts including guests, airlines, corporate accounts, travel agencies, and local media to ensure guest satisfaction, foster repeat business, and generate new opportunities.
- Coordinate business group activities at the hotel, collaborating closely with other departments to deliver exceptional service to prospective clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and may serve as "manager on duty" as required.
This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional familiar with the demands of a large full-service hotel. You will focus on key market sectors and top accounts, navigating competitive pressures with finesse and driving success in a dynamic environment.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, with at least 4 years of experience in hospitality or hotel sales and marketing, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Fluent English proficiency required, additional languages preferred
- Ability to frequently stand, move within and outside the facility, lift items up to 25 pounds, and handle objects
- Strong communication skills essential for interactions with guests, employees, and third parties
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math for completing paperwork, interpreting results, and giving instructions
