Opportunity:
Virtual Service Operations is seeking an experienced Systems and Network Support Engineer to lead and execute a broad range of engineering, operational, and client-facing support functions across Microsoft-centric and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical expertise in infrastructure deployments, network troubleshooting, Azure operations, and IT service delivery, while also contributing to documentation, system design, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Microsoft Platform Support:
- Design and maintain network and system architecture diagrams to support infrastructure visibility and planning.
- Lead or independently execute deployment of new system capabilities across local and remote environments.
- Manage ongoing system operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks, including OS patching, performance monitoring, and configuration management.
- Investigate and resolve complex network and system issues, escalating only when necessary.
Azure & Cloud Integration:
- Enforce and refine Azure governance and best practices in collaboration with senior cloud architects.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across hybrid infrastructure, including Azure resources and on-prem WAN / LAN infrastructure.
- Monitor and communicate system status, capacity trends, and service-level indicators to both technical and business stakeholders.
Site Operations & Hardware Management:
- Oversee execution of client hardware deployments, moves, and troubleshooting across AAP, and on-prem infrastructure.
- Manage user identity lifecycle processes, including account creation, deprovisioning, and access requests.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Client Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between Systems Integrators and client teams, helping to mediate technical ownership, clarify responsibilities, and align stakeholder priorities.
- Deliver informal training and mentoring to junior team members on Azure tools, scripting, and IT best practices.
- Proactively contribute to backlog development, process improvement initiatives, and knowledge management efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in systems or network administration roles supporting Microsoft or Azure environments.
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking protocols (IP, DNS, DHCP), Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Azure environments, with working knowledge of IaaS, virtual networking, and subscription management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills in mixed technical/non-technical settings.
- Must be able to lift/move hardware and travel to nearby operational sites as needed.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification required (e.g., Security+ CE).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure Portal, PowerShell scripting, and Azure CLI.
- Experience using Visio or similar tools for technical diagramming.
- Certifications such as Network+, Security+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
Requirements
- Must be within driving distance of Edwards, CA OR willing to relocate there (Relocation Assistance Package Available)
- Must be willing to work onsite (This role may include the need to work outside of core hours on high priority investigations and may also include on-call responsibilities)
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently
- Must possess an active TS/ SCI clearance or above
- Must possess an active DOD 8570 IAT Level II or greater
