RWE Renewables is looking for an experienced Senior Grid Strategy Manager for our Renewables Business to be based in Poland. To connect projects to grid with innovative and technically as well as economically feasible solutions, based on collaborative interaction between developers, utilities and the TSO/DSO stakeholders, is key for the success of the renewable business and the energy transformation.
The focus of the role will be on the stakeholder management of TSO/DSOs as well as driving the various internal grid connection initiatives and the internal alignment between different functions such like Development, Engineering and Commercial functions. The target is to prioritize and implement the initiatives and offer guidance and advise our project developers so that we can achieve our growth targets in onshore wind and PV battery storage projects in Poland.
Your tasks:
- The Senior Grid Strategy Manager will be part of RWE Renewables’ Project Engineering Department for Europe North and UK & Ireland, aligning and supporting the project Development in Poland with responsibilities:
- Lead all grid related initiatives in the Polish business organization of RWE Renewables for our onshore wind and PV, BESS activities
- identify, develop and maintain close and trustful relationship with high level decision makers in TSO and DSO organizations in Poland
- for Grid Operators the Grid Strategy Manager is the first point of contact concerning technical, normative and business development topics of RWE as an utility in the renewable energy business
- maintain a transparent overview about relevant regulations, requirements and network-plans of the TSO and DSOs
- develop closely together with the project Development function innovative solutions and strategies to connect our planned assets to the grid
- develop new business opportunities for RWE as a player in the energy landscape with Grid Operators, e.g. ancillary services considering technical feasibilities and current/future regulation conditions in the market in close alignment with commercial support functions of RWE
- identify strategic changes in associations and on grid operator side regarding grid codes, norms, standards and regulatory topics in order to adapt RWE internal processes and targets, participate and represent RWE in grid related conferences and events
- together with other functions such like Development the Grid Strategy Manager analyzes the network regarding potential opportunities and challenges, which should lead into in-house projects or will be worked out in detail with external support
- the Grid Strategy Manager collaborates with the Grid Engineers in the Project Engineering team and the project Developers to initialize the grid feasibility and grid connection process on project level
- the Grid Strategy Manager feeds into technical due diligence projects (e.g. of M&A acquisitions), analyze simulation results, technical solutions and risks, make proposals for technical and commercial decisions
- and keeps a close liaison with technical experts and business / project developers and management to ensure transparency and alignment regarding grid related strategies and activities in the onshore wind and PV BESS business
Your profile:
- More than 10 years of relevant work experience ideally within grid operators (TSO and/or DSO) in Poland
- Understanding of the design, construction or operation of onshore wind, PV and BESS or similar renewable energy industry projects
- Deep understanding and of the Polish electrical Transmission and Distribution Network landscape and the related Grid Codes and a strong network in the TSO and/or DSO organizations
- Business development mind-set combined with a strong technical background in energy generation, distribution and/or transmission solution business (HV, MV) and understanding of electrical balance of plant (cabling, substation solutions)
- Not a must, but a nice to have: knowledge of the application of relevant software programs such as MS Office, PowerFactory (load flow, short circuit, protection, RMS and EMT simulations), PSS/E, PSCAD for power networks
- Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
- Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills, social competence and intercultural mind set
- Broad knowledge of the use of relevant guidelines, norms and standards and Best Practices
- Successfully completed university studies or comparable graduate education ideally in elect
