Role:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting functions of the Finance Department. This role also serves as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with managers to create fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
MINIMUM: Three to five years of experience in a related field of study
PREFERRED: Five or more years in a related field of study
Education:
MINIMUM: Bachelor's degree in the School of Business: Accounting, Economics, Finance, or General Business
PREFERRED: Master's degree in the School of Business: Accounting, Economics, Finance, or General Business; CMA and/or CPA certification
Driving Requirements:
Valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.

The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

- Communication-remain open to other's ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new processes; strong written and verbal communication skills for working with and explaining financial data to employees at a variety of levels in an organization.
