Job Functions and Responsibility

Under general supervision to serve as an assistant and resource to preschool and/or transitional kindergarten teachers in the supervision, teaching, observation and training of preschool and/or transitional kindergarten students; including those students with a wide variety of physical limitations or special needs who may require specialized health care; to assist and engage in the preparation and assembling of teaching material; and to do related work as assigned. Employee is under the supervision of the administrator and receives direction from the teacher(s) and may also receive direction from the school nurse(s), and/or behavior specialist(s).

Requirements / Qualifications

Requires possession of: 

1.  Possession of a California Child Development Assistant Permit OR Six (6) units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) 

AND 

2. Associate of Arts Degree OR Sixty (60) semester hours or equivalent of college training or district approved staff development with a cumulative grade point average of no less than 2.00 for graded classes OR 

3. Meet the qualifications as delineated by the California Department of Education for “Every Student Succeeds Act” Legislation. AND High School Diploma or GED.
