Our kitchen team plays a crucial role in ensuring that every meal served meets the highest standards of quality, nutrition, and safety.


The Kitchen Site Lead will be an integral part of our kitchen team, working closely with the Food Service Manager to prepare a variety of fresh and nutritionally compliant school meals. This role will serve as a leader, working alongside cooks to ensure efficient service throughout each shift. The Kitchen Site Lead will gradually assume more responsibility, learning the ins and outs of managing a kitchen and fostering effective communication between staff and upper management. Adherence to health department standards regarding cleanliness and sanitation of their workstations during food preparation is required and expected.

Requirements

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Sets up and stock stations with all necessary tools, products, and supplies for menu item preparation
  • Prepares prep lists, recipes, and in-service instructions as provided by the Food Service Manager and Director
  • Ensures dishes are prepared in a timely and efficient manner while upholding standards of presentation and quality
  • Adheres to nutrition, sanitation, and industry regulations, including safety standards and ServSafe guidelines
  • Communicates daily product and supply needs with management
  • Maintains accurate daily reporting of production and sales
  • Executes receiving procedures and maintains food storage standards
  • Ensures daily service standards are met for each meal period
  • Conducts accurate ordering based on inventory needs
  • Conducts regular cleaning of the kitchen and verifies staff adherence to sanitation levels
  • Creates schedules for kitchen staff
  • Tracks kitchen finances to identify areas of potential waste
  • Assigns daily production tasks to kitchen staff
  • Must attain ServSafe Manager certification within the first 30 days of employment

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, and kneeling
  • Capacity to work extended hours on feet
  • Ability to lift and carry food containers weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Capability to lift and empty trash cans weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent washing of hands
  • Strong sanitation awareness and practice to minimize cross-contamination
