Internship Description:The Data Product team at Sayari manages the end-to-end lifecycle of our databases. Our job is to secure access to as much global coverage of corporate and trade data as possible, and to ensure that all the data we integrate and process meets the highest quality standards. As part of the Sayari team, you'll play a pivotal role in monitoring regulatory actions, litigation, and policy shifts relevant to our products and mission.
Our ideal candidate is a student focusing on International Relations/Security, Geopolitical Risk, Political Science, or Journalism with professional fluency in Chinese and the ability to work 20-40 hours a week.

Internship Responsibilities
- Keep abreast of international affairs topics and identify pertinent data sources to enhance our data repository.
- Conduct thorough research across corporate registries, data aggregators, and trusted sources such as annual reports, regulatory filings, and online databases.
- Complete the data extraction, curation, and maintenance of existing and new datasets by extracting structured data from reports and regulations, conducting entity disambiguation, and performing data labeling
- Continuously monitoring and updating existing datasets.
- Write well-structured and concise reports to assist a team of Analysts with data research tasks.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Professional fluency (reading comprehension) in Chinese (Mandarin)
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focusing on International Relations/Security, Geopolitical Risk, Political Science, Journalism, or related fields of study.
- 1 year of experience in investigations or open-source research for commercial, academic, or similar purposes (internship & academic experience included)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and and interest in learning new tools
- Experience with public records and commercial intelligence tools
- Experience with research on international affairs issues
- Familiarity with spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Sheets
- Ability to multitask, solve problems creatively, and triage competing prioritiesFamiliarity with quantitative tools and/or coding is a plus
