Principal Product Designer

Overview

IDC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Product Designer to lead the development and management of our digital products.

As a Principal Product Designer at IDC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital products, with a heavy focus on AI. You will lead a team of talented designers to create innovative, user-centric experiences that drive business growth.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Partner with product leaders to define and execute the product vision.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product management, etc.) to align on product strategy and goals.
• Develop and implement a robust design system and guidelines.
• Elevate our practice and our products through a blend of leadership and execution skills.

Design Excellence

• Conduct user research to uncover deep insights and inform design decisions.
• Create exceptional user experiences across various platforms (web, mobile, etc.).
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
• Iterate designs based on user feedback and performance metrics.
• Rapidly design, iterate, and validate user experience solutions to meet user needs and constraints.
• Create prototypes to determine a solution's success and continue to iterate and improve it after launch.
• Leverage data-driven insights to inform design decisions and measure the impact of design changes.
• Employ a systematic approach to solving considerable, complex design challenges.
• Present creative work early and often to critical stakeholders in design reviews.

Qualifications

 

• Advanced degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on user experience.
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
• Expert in Figma.
• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• A passion for creating beautiful and functional user experiences.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
• Experience working with data to inform design decisions.
• A portfolio demonstrating a solid track record of designing successful digital products.
• Experience working directly with Engineering & Product Management teams to deliver design files, design assets, and documentation required to produce a launchable product.
• Proven experience collaborating with Engineering teams to solve development issues through design, monitoring customer feedback and product analytics, and refining design in response to incoming feedback and data.
• Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data to balance user needs and business objectives.
• Experience working in Jira, owning tasks that map to the delivery stage for engineering.
