Become one of our 34 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.

Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.

Your role as a Trainee –  Project Manager Area Transitions in BU Heat NL

BU Heat NL is market leader in The Netherlands in driving the heating transition. With constructing and developing sustainable district heating and cooling solutions we help phasing out natural gas in the built environment. By doing so we directly contribute to Vattenfall’s purpose: Fossil free living within one generation.

The heating industry is increasingly focussing on the existing built environments, in addition to new constructions. Instead of connecting single buildings for one customer to district heating, the trend is moving towards a regional approach. This means that entire areas with a variety of customers are transitioning collectively. Expanding our district heating grids by taking an area approach in the core regions where we operate is a fundamental part of the strategy of BU Heat NL.

The shift towards an Area approach brings numerous complexities for our Heat Business. We are setting up a “Program for Area Transitions” to ensure that we meet the changing demands of our customers and the market. As a Trainee, you will join our programme team and will assist the Programme Manager.

Your daily activities:

• Supporting delivery of the “Programma Area Transitions” together with the Programme Manager, the Programme team and the management of BU Heat NL.

• Supporting of and taking ownership for setting up the workshops and programme team meetings: preparation, facilitation, and follow up on the outcome and action plans.
• Taking an active role in defining the delivery process for area transitions, from pre-sales co-operation with municipalities, housing corporations and private owners up to delivery to end customers.
• Identifying and acting upon upcoming issues and lessons learned, together with the project team and standing Heat organisation.
• Initiating, designing and implementing new projects and (parts of) work processes, to help shape the organisation to become fully ready for area developments.
• Supporting actual area transition projects in the core regions of Vattenfall BU Heat NL (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Leiden, Almere, Arnhem, Nijmegen).
