About the Role
In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a Director, Workforce Strategy - Delaware State University (DSU) who will support students towards strong post-college career outcomes. This person will serve as a strategic career coach to students attending DSU, who have completed the 3-credit Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator Course. Our growth goals at DSU will have us serving 500+ students by the end of December 2024 and 1100+ students by May 2025. This role has the opportunity to accelerate Braven’s regional and national impact.
This role is on the Delaware team and reports directly to the Managing Director, Delaware.
What You’ll Do
Strategy and Career Coaching (60%)
- Develop the vision and strategy to support Fellows in securing internships and strong jobs according to major and career community alignment
- Design and implement strategy to build a regional Fellow community
- Own data tracking and reporting for student internship and job attainment, including weekly tracking, monthly dashboard updates, and annual survey collection process
- Manage and analyze student-level and program data, as well as track engagement within centralized systems, to determine and implement student support interventions
- Lead the annual Jobs Campaign at DSU and provide strategic 1:1 career coaching for Fellows to ensure that graduates land a strong post-college career opportunity
- Maintain a constant and comprehensive understanding of opportunities in the Delaware and national Braven network in order to refer students to best-fit opportunities
- Collaborate with the centralized Career Communities team to promote continued career exploration and skills development for Fellows
Higher Education Partner (HEP) Engagement (20%)
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders at DSU in order to develop expertise in DSU’s ecosystem of student supports and offerings to refer Fellows accordingly
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Accelerator course professor of record and Sophomore Experience coordinator
Student Programming and Engagement (15%)
- Connect with Fellows during the Accelerator course to introduce programming and support offered during and after the course
- Create, plan, and execute events for student recruitment and brand awareness, and to support community building, networking, and engagement among Fellows
- Support Career Communities team to implement in-person workshops in the Delaware region
- Plan and manage student recruitment and Fellow engagement activities on DSU’s campus
- Represent Braven externally as needed
A+ Team (5%)
- Manage a Workforce Development intern
- Source Fellows to serve as interns and volunteers for the DSU team
- Participate in individual annual and quarterly planning and all team events
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of experience working with students (preferably college students) and employer partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Consistent track record of success in managing complex relationships and projects
- Demonstrated strength in career coaching, especially with folks early in their career, ideally in higher education and/or workforce strategy settings
- Experience building inspiring visions and strategy that motivate others to action
- Extreme attention-to-detail while also not losing sight of the big picture
- Strong external and internal relationship builder with significant experience tailoring the approach based on an understanding of the beliefs, motivations
