The Director, AI, Automation and Data will be responsible for shaping and executing AdvanSix’s enterprise-wide data, automation, and AI strategy. This leader will establish a strong data foundation through robust master data management, create a unified data layer to enable actionable insights, and drive adoption of AI/GenAI tools across the business. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, building and leading high-performing teams (internal and outsourced) to accelerate digital transformation. The director will foster a data-driven culture, ensuring governance, innovation, and automation enhanced decision-making, operational efficiency, and long-term business value.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management & Governance
• Develop and oversee enterprise-wide master data management (MDM) strategy.
• Establish and lead a network of data stewards across functions.
• Define and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
Unified Data & Analytics
• Architect and implement a unified enterprise data layer for consistency and scalability.
• Drive business reporting, dashboarding, and advanced visualization capabilities.
• Partner with business functions to enable outcome-focused analytics.
AI & Automation Strategy
• Define and execute AdvanSix’s AI and automation roadmap, including GenAI adoption.
• Identify and lead initiatives to automate key manufacturing and back-end business processes (Finance, HR, Supply Chain) using technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), machine learning, and intelligent workflows.
• Monitor emerging AI/automation technologies and assess business applicability.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical AI standards.
Culture & Leadership
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-caliber team of internal data scientists, analysts, and engineers, supplemented by external outsourced partners.
• Foster a data-driven culture by embedding data literacy across the enterprise.
• Act as the primary evangelist for the power of data, analytics, and AI within the company.
Business Enablement & Transformation
• Translate business needs into data and AI solutions that drive measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate with digital business technology partners to accelerate transformation.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on data, automation, and AI trends.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, AI, or automation roles.
• 5+ years of experience leading people.
• Demonstrated experience in master data management, data governance, and reporting.
• Strong track record in building and leading high-performing technical and cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise data platforms, cloud-based analytics, and automation technologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including ability to influence at senior levels.
• Experience in manufacturing, chemicals, or industrial sectors.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior responsibility for developing AI/GenAI strategies and roadmaps.
