Primary Responsibilities
- Create or locate a robust training program for future Wellness Coaches by developing a program or finding affordable training programs.
- Attend meetings and educational sessions related to the development of the Wellness Coaching program.
- Promote the Wellness Coaching service through marketing platforms, emails, outreach presentations, tabling, and events, including submitting Marketing Request forms to support student engagement.
- Identify opportunities to integrate Wellness Coaching and collaborate with academic departments and other campus areas.
- Maintain accurate availability in the scheduling software.
- Oversee data tracking for Wellness Coaching appointments and participating students.
- Develop a streamlined communication process for Wellness Coaching students, including welcome/introductory emails, reminders, follow-up communications, and related correspondence.
- Assess and interpret pre-assessment submissions before and during Wellness Coaching appointments.
- Lead motivational, non-judgmental, 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions to help students understand and address personal, social, or behavioral challenges that affect their personal development and conduct standing.
- Support student development and wellness-related concerns during appointments, including topics such as academics, finances, relationships, sexual health, drug use, and other areas related to student wellness.
- Use a positive approach to personal development by focusing on each student’s current expertise and strengths while providing education and accurate resources to help generate and support meaningful goals.
- Administer post-assessments for the Wellness Coaching program to assess growth and program effectiveness for the supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure pre- and post-assessments are submitted in a timely manner to support the success of Wellness Coaching appointments.
- Prepare statistical, analytical, and narrative reports on data collected each semester to support decision-making, identify missing populations, and improve programming.
- Report instances or allegations of sexual assault, harassment, or discrimination to the Title IX Coordinator and adhere to FERPA regulations regarding student records.
- Plan and coordinate one event each semester, big or small, outside of the department’s signature events on a topic that aligns with the department’s general health topics, the Graduate Assistant’s interests, and college student wellness.
- Support Prevention & Wellness events, such as the Eagle Wellness Fair and Party with P&W, by gathering materials, staffing, and assisting where needed.
- Decorate and update the lobby bulletin board monthly with a relevant wellness topic.
- Assist with the creation, review, and evaluation of program area content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with educational objectives.
- Train Peer Health Educators on relevant wellness topics.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Coordinator for support, progress updates, and feedback on Graduate Assistant tasks.
- Attend monthly University Recreation & Wellness professional staff meetings as able.
- Complete a semesterly performance evaluation with the Coordinator for feedback purposes.
- Seek a minimum of one professional development opportunity to support the Graduate Assistant role, such as webinars, workshops, or certificates.

Required Qualifications
- Acceptance into a graduate program at Florida Gulf Coast University.
- Available during department office hours, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., except for university closures.
- Ability to work a consistent schedule of 15-20 hours per week.
- Ability to work in person and clock in and out using the department’s employee app.
- Available to serve as a Graduate Assistant for at least one full academic year.
- Available for University Recreation & Wellness kickoffs each semester.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with software such as Anthol
