Athletics Team Assistant MS Swim Coach 2024-2025

Description

The Assistant Coach in any sport supports and advances the mission of FCS by providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at various school levels. Reports directly to the Head Coach.

Assistant Coach Responsibilities:

1. Provide Christian leadership and coaching to all players

2. Provide instruction in all phases of the game

3. Work with FCS student-athletes to improve personal and teamwork skills

4. Provide guidance and encouragement to help students profit from their participation

5. Maintain compliance with Fredericksburg Christian School, VCAC and Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to athletic programs

6. Promote the proper use and care of school property

7. Communicate effectively with the team, staff, parents, administration, community, and the media

8. Participate in athletic department fund-raisers

9. Be knowledgeable of, monitor, and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety practices

10. Maintain an acceptable attendance record and is punctual

Requirements

1. Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
2. Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
3. Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
4. If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
5. Strong commitment to Christian education
6. Playing experience required (if assistant coach, preferred, not required)
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including effective listening skills
8. Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environment
9. Working knowledge about athletic program regulations
10. Skillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactions
11. Averts problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflicts
12. Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students
13. Must be CPR/AED certified or willing to complete certification shortly after hire
14. Teachable, servant spirit
