Senior Financial Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst provides high-level financial planning, analysis, and strategic support for the Division of Academic Affairs at Marymount University. This position plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making to ensure the effective allocation of resources in alignment with the university’s academic and strategic goals. The Senior Financial Analyst collaborates with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to provide actionable insights that drive financial sustainability and operational excellence.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the Development and Management of the Academic Affairs Budget

• Work closely with the Associate VP of Institutional Analytics & Student Success and academic affairs leadership to create annual budgets based on projected revenues and expenditures as well as needs across academic affair units.
• Monitor budget within the Division of Academic Affairs, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities
• Significant collaboration with Division on Finance on budget and accounting related matters to ensure strategic alignment between Academic Affairs budget and overall university budget
• Conduct strategic budget analyses to facilitate and enhance operational efficiency and identify areas for cost savings and process improvement.
• Track and monitor expenditures and produce projection reports.
• Review and/or approve financial transactions.
• Serve as a point of contact for Academic Affairs units with budget-related questions.

Serve as key collaborator for Academic Affairs Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA)

• Conduct financial forecasting and scenario modeling to support strategic planning and resource allocation decisions.
• Create detailed financial analysis, develop multi-year forecasts, and assess financial trends to inform decision-making and long-term planning.
• Support revenue-generating initiatives, including tuition pricing strategies and academic program financial viability assessments.
• Collaborates closely with Division of Finance to ensure FPA activities coordinate with university FPA activities

Financial Analytics and Reporting

• Prepare and analyze financial reports from various sources (e.g.- IPEDS, NCES, SCHEV, VFIC).
• Provide analytical insights and actionable recommendations through visualizations (e.g.- dashboards) on key financial performance indicators.
• Conduct variance analyses to understand financial trends and opportunities.
• Coordinate with Division of Finance to understand university financial analytics and incorporate into Academic Affairs Financial Analytics

Technology & Financial Systems

• Significance experience and familiarity with the functionality of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Workday strongly preferred).
• Ability to leverage and create business intelligence tools.
• Serve as subject matter leader in financial technology solutions and continuously improve reporting and planning capabilities within technology environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education                                        

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

Experience                                      

5- 7 years of related experience in higher education, preferably in academic affairs. Experience managing multi-unit budgets.
