Job Description

X-energy LLC is hiring a Project Quality Assurance Manager to support its QA team in Rockville, MD. This role is responsible for leading a team of dynamic Project Quality Assurance Engineers in the performance of quality assurance activities supporting X-energy’s commercial, nuclear, and research and development projects. Activities include but are not limited to documenting, implementing, and maintaining United States Commercial Nuclear, Department of Energy, Canadian Nuclear and International Quality Management systems. Ensures compliance to applicable NRC, DOE, ASME, CNSC, ISO, customer, and project-specific requirements for all project activities. This includes responsibility for relevant administrative and technical quality decisions. This role will apply leadership capabilities, detailed knowledge, understanding and experience in the functional discipline and its practical application, industry codes, guidelines, and regulations. Will also actively support and demonstrate leadership traits advancing X-energy’s nuclear safety culture.


 

Job Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Functional management responsibilities for the Project Quality Assurance Engineer team.
  • Perform Project Quality Assurance Engineer activities as needed to supplement the team during times of higher work volume.
  • Ensure processes/documents needed for the Quality Management System are identified, established, implemented, and maintained as necessary.
  • Analyze higher severity nonconformances and implements process improvement and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the Audit team, Supplier Quality Engineer team, Engineering, Procurement/Supply Chain, Training, and other functional groups to efficiently execute X-energy’s corporate and quality goals.
  • Obtain/Maintain NQA-1 auditor status.
  • Provide oversight of conduct internal quality assessments, audits and/or inspections.
  • Provide oversight of and conduct supplier evaluations and qualifications through audits, assessments, and inspections.
  • Facilitate, provide, and encourage appropriate company quality training.
  • Successfully execute the senior management goals for Organization as they relate to the Project Quality Assurance Engineer team.
  • Ownership of the content of X-energy Quality Management System documents (procedures, policies, quality plans, etc.) affecting Project Quality Assurance Engineer activities.
  • Ownership of the content of the P6 (schedule) activities associated with the Project Quality Assurance Engineers.
  • Report to the Senior Management regarding the status of the quality programs and, where appropriate, concerns over significant risks and recommendations for improvement.
  • Play an active role to ensure safety and quality culture is promoted and continually improved.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) or related field from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum education requirement can also be met by having seven plus years of pertinent nuclear related experience (commercial nuclear, DOE, Navy Nuclear, supply chain, engineering, etc.).
  • Minimum of five plus years working in a commercial or research nuclear-related environment (nuclear regulatory, utility, fuel/waste facility, National Laboratory, NSSS supplier, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience applying 10CFR50 App B, 10CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1, CSA N299, CSA N286-12, CSA N286.7, and ISO 9001 requirements to nuclear design development, software QA, design testing and manufacturing programs.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) of software, and services and items/components.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 4 days in office
Travel Expectations: Up to 10% as needed
