The Trade and Pharmacy Accounts Director is responsible for enabling access to current and future Cytokinetics’ therapeutics through assigned accounts which will include our Third Party Logistics (3PL) Provider, Specialty Distributor, Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) Specialty Pharmacies (SP), Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), and Hospital Pharmacy Solutions Providers. This is a field position that will work collaboratively across functional areas to support the development of the channel portfolio strategy, drawing upon deep account knowledge and channel insights. The role will provide leadership and management in selecting, contracting, and negotiating trade and pharmacy agreements, and leading in providing the operational support of assigned pharmacy accounts to achieve Cytokinetics’ objectives. For partnered accounts, the position will serve as primary liaison for educating and partnering with IDN SP staff to facilitate patient access. It will also ensure all contractual obligations are being met by monitoring operations and reports and holding periodic business reviews. In conjunction with the analytics group, the person will develop monitor and enhance channel ordering and inventory reports on a monthly basis, to identify trends and areas for customer follow up. The position will be responsible for all the therapeutic areas within Cytokinetics, and report to the Senior Director of Trade and Distribution.
Responsibilities
Drawing on broad experience, Trade and Pharmacy Accounts Director will apply professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues. This successful applicant will exercise judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The individual works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, including related organizational objectives.
Contribute to the management of IDN SP, GPO, specialty distributor, and third-party logistics (3PL) provider relationships and leads development of account level plans.
Lead contract negotiation/implementation including financial return on investment analysis.
Educate and liase with SP personnel to answer inquiries, enhance operational performance, and ensure appropriate integration with Cytokinetics’ channel and patient support partner services and operations.
Act as a key point of contact for internal customers regarding operations (data reporting, contract management, metrics, etc.).
Support program development and day-to-day management of ongoing specialty programs, inclusive of improvements to reporting and performance tracking.
Collaborate with groups internally such as Patient Services, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Safety, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Supply, Pharmacovigilance, Legal and Regulatory.
Resolve complex issues with proven competence at identifying issues and providing effective solution.
Monitor channel partner ordering and SD inventories and implement plan(s) to ensure appropriate inventories are in place to meet demands.
Communicate effectively with partners to review, plan and supervise performance to plan. Collaborate with channel partners and to ensure issues are addressed and resolved.
Supervise the performance of channel partners to contract terms and conditions through tracking of metrics.
Help evaluate new channel partners and novel distribution initiatives.
Attend outside meetings or conferences, as appropriate, and supervise competitive landscape to keep abreast of distribution trends, including new and existing trading partners that may impact channel strategies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a life science, business/economics or related field; MBA preferred. We may consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
10+ years of experience with 5+ years in market access, trade operations and account management with an emphasis in specialty pharmaceuticals product distribution obtained with a manufacturer and/or wholesaler, 3PL, specialty distributor, specialty pharmacy, or IDN.
